The meadow ends in a tall forest of cedar and neem trees. There is little underbrush and the scattered lofty trunks give the impression of pillars, as though you are standing in some great temple, an arched roof of rippling green and gold high overhead. Looking upwards you turn on the spot taking in the immensity of your surroundings. Far above you brightly coloured birds flitter from branch to branch, chirruping and trilling beneath the verdant canopy. Golden sunlight filters down to light patches of fine green turf and illuminate the tree trunks. Despite the bird call there is a peaceful, old, hush to this place. There is a soft noise behind you and you turn. Standing off to one side of you is a strangely coloured wolf with alarming green eyes. She grins at you.
"The forests of the Tir are under my protection... All but for the Scarred One's Domain." The large wolf shudders slightly. "And she takes care of her own well enough." "Who? Allani?!" You ask, confused. Allani Brokenhorn, one of the most scarred creatures you know but she is nothing to fear... unless laws are broken. Tanami's reply is emphatic. "No! No no no no no! The two are nothing alike!! Allani is nothing like the Scarred One" The last three words she speaks in a hushed voice, partially in fearful awe but also with a strange respect. Curious despite the chill that runs down your spine you find a sudden desire to know more of this fearful creature that lives within the Tir but before you can ask Tanami cuts you off. The wolf shakes herself. "Enough of this talk. Only be with care! If a creature of the Tir warns you that you're treading near the edge of the Scarred One's territory heed them and turn away from that path!!" Tanami stretches and changes the subject. "The North path leads pine forest, it's colder that wazy, heading up towards the mountains. To the South West is the Butterfly forest which is more of a tropical clime. Back to the East lies the meadows, the path to the South there is a swathe of maple growth and further along the South East path there grows much heather." "Now I must go, I have much ground to cover before Moonrise. Give my greetings to Cuni, Benith and St'ktrath if you see them." With that she turns and trots swiftly away to the West. The scent of pine and snow drifts from that direction. |
