You follow the Kefis cat, trotting over the malachite sand to the place you last saw it but the blue feline has disappeared completely leaving only a few faint pugmarks in the damp sand. Never the less you decide to continue on along the stream after it.
The stream's bank continues on West, gradually becoming white sand rather than the striking green.
As you follow the water course you find the the jungle is gradually becoming less humid once more and more deciduous trees are beginning to show around you though the undergrowth remains just as dense and you are glad of the path. There is a cheerful chirrup sound to your right and you pause, mid step, to see the cause.
"Hullo" The small golden creature trills, perched on a log near you, it's eyes bright.
"I’m Turbi, I'm a Keenith." it stands on it’s hindlegs and cocks its head to see you clearly. "This stream comes down from the mountains and flows on into the great lake. It is called the Padu and is one of the 'safe' water courses of the Tir. The Tani and Kaeo are..." It pauses to focus on it's next word. "Thaumactively unstable." it finished triumphantly.
"Wha..?" You begin to ask just what thaumo-whattever means and another cheerful voice pipes up. "It means that they are magically unstable."
Another Keenith scurries down a tree trunk, bright red in hue, it flutters it's wings and grins at you. "I'm Kenya, Mahnon Lainn'sverit told Turbi about the stream in scientific terms that not everyone else knows and now she uses them as much as possible."
Turbi pokes her tongue out at Kenya and the red Keenith grins before continuing.
"Most of the streams come from a natural source: snow melt or an underground spring but Tani and Kaeo were caused by the mage storms and so are dangerous. Usually there are creatures who watch over the streams and they will warn you but you would be wise to look around the banks and if anything seems out of the ordinary..."
Turbi huffs a small laugh and Kenya rolls her eyes, rewording what she said.
"If anything seems OVERLY out of the ordinary. Then I suggest you don't drink from it. Turbi and I can sense a sky-humm-tzz when we go near the magical streams but Allani says that not everyone else can."
As if sensing the question that has been sitting in your mind Turbi pipes up. "Kenya and I aren’t native to the Tir, Kyuukon asked our kind if any beast would like to live here as ambassadors and we agreed to go. Darkhorse managed to find this place for us. Nice nu?!" She scampers up a dead log and down the hollow, out of sight. Curious you wait for her to return.
Kenya sighs. "She won’t be back.. or at least no time soon. My little sister has a notoriously short attention span. I’d better go and make sure she doesn’t get in trouble. Fare well traveller. Safe journeys."
With that the red Keenith leaps down into the hollow as well, leaving you to head back the way you came or you could *try* fitting down the hollow after the keeniths. The stream continues on westwards, beginning to turn South East.
