You follow the Dell in closer to the forest, here the ground dips away all the more and the shadows of the trees cast heavy shadows across the fair ground.
There is a flash of colour in the trees and a pegasus mare lopes out to greet you, her rainbow mane glowing in the sunlight. Looking at her build and form you know she is of the same subrace of pegasai as Kis and Met but instead of feathered wings hers are like those of bat, skin membrane pulled taunt over fine bones.
She keeps the the shadows, coming as close to you as she can without stepping out into the full light and bobs her head politely. "I am Kistara'lay."
"My father, Rahkshashi also lives here but is more akin to the night. Bright sunlight hurts his eyes worse than mine and so he remains in the darker shadows here. Come, I will lead you to him." She turns, tucking her wings in close before leading you into the heavier forest, shouldering the thick pine boughs aside and leaning against them so you can pass without them whipping against you.
As your eyes adjust to the soft gloom you see another pegasus, again bat winged, standing in the shadows, his pale eyes luminouscent in the dim light. A green and black feather of some large bird of prey tucked into a plait in his mane.
As you approach he steps forward, dipping his large mottled head in greeting.
"I am Rahkshashi, I see you have met my daughter." He chuffs a greeting to the brightly coloured mare.
"Oriana Ceru, her dam & my mate lives in the Realm of th' Silver one."
He shyly flicks his tail.
"Oriana and I fell in love at first sight, the most colourful dawn must hide it's face from her in shame for nothing else matches her beauty, not the most velvet night nor the gentlest breeze.
Kistara inherited her Dams colouration but my wings.Though Oriana Ceru lives far from here we have a ensorcelled lock which can teleport us to her so Kistara'lay and I can easily visit her."
He indicates an irridescently rainbow plait held by beads hanging from a tree nearby. It shimmers slightly in the wind as the travel spell on it draws energy from the light.
The two pegasai watch you expectantly to see if you touch the lock, or head onwards, out into the meadows or deeper into the fir trees.
Mistress Unseen is no longer fostering out Joyclin Pegasai and her page has gone :(
