You venture out into the scrub lands. In the distance you can see a small herd of brumbies but they move away swiftly, wary of strangers. There is a whistle of wings and a strange creature lands near you, regarding you curiously with huge luminescent red eyes.
It cocks it's head at you, twisting it's long and pointed ears to investigate you further.
You hold out your hand cautiously for it to sniff, still barely believing your eyes.
A Kliratal!
One of the rarest creature and of such a strange colour!
It lips your fingers gently, searching for treats but finds none.
It whuffles it's disappointment, breaking off its search to scratch vigorously behing one ear with a hind paw then preening it's gloriously coloured wings.
'Her name is Katua.' You spin around looking for the source of the voice.
Basking on a rock is a lizard. It scratches a piece of shedding scale from it's nose end with it's claw and looks up at you.
You shake youre head in disbelief muttering
'I must be going mad! I thought I heard a lizard talk!'
The lizard puffs up in anger and snaps at you.
'I'm no 'little lizard'! I happen to be a long nosed dragon.'
You jump in surprise and hastily apologise. The 'dragon' appears mollified and deflates his throat pouch.
'All right. I accept your apology. I was saying the Kliratal's name is Katua. She was a gift from Myrror and is one of the first known to be of those colours.'
You look back at Katua but she has disappeared, turning back to the rock you find the lizard has gone too.
There is a deep throated chuckle and you spin on your heel in surprise.
Lying on one of the rocks near you is a large purple dragon like creature.
It blinks at you with nebulous black eyes, yawns widely then stretches it's long talons.
"Pay no heed to the little reptile. He has more pride than practicality." The purple creature rests it's head on it's legs again and the eyes close, dismissing you immediatly as it dozes once more, leaving you to decide whether to venture further out into the scrub lands, head up towards the mountain ridge or out into the desert.
